The femur, known as the the longest, heaviest, and strongest bone in the human body, typically takes 4 to 6 months to heal after a fracture. During the early months of the 2020 pandemic, an apocryphal quote attributed to anthropologist Margaret Mead spread online, describing a healed 15,000-year-old femur as evidence of the origin of civilization.

The work notes on the collective pursuit of benevolent civilizational narratives and the popularity of blanket statements on social media — which betray the performative and (generally) empty nature of care expressions on the internet.
