Five fishes that could be
2015

Five fishes that could be is an artist’s book based on the morphological theories of D'Arcy Thompson in On Growth and Form, where he made an image-reliant case for interspecies correspondence based on a series of grid projections and calculations.

Like so, Thompson fits a straight grid onto one fish species and then deforms the grid to "find" a different species. I took his calculations only halfway to speculate on five fish species that, although unknown and unnamed, could exist according to his method.

The book is made of a small informational booklet and 15 illustrations on loose cards.
